Hollywood Reporter hails ‘Night of the Full Moon’

Film critic Deborah Young praises Iranian ‘Night of the Full Moon’ in Hollywood Reporter.

Film critic Deborah Young has hailed Narges Abyar’s film ‘Night of the Full Moon’ in a review published in Hollywood Reporter.

Young writes Narges Abyar proved herself as one of Iran’s talented directors in ‘Night of the Full Moon’. The piece is a political drama, love story and a horror movie that narrates the story of a carefree young Iranian bride who discovers her husband’s family are Al-Qaeda commandos.

She adds charming lead actors such as Elnaz Shakerdoust attract the audience. Shakerdoust has the role of a cheerful young wife who doesn’t wake up to where her new husband is leading her until she is in the middle of a nightmare.

Debora notes “Despite the darkness of the ending, the production is colorful, musical and eye-catching throughout. Dialogue is in Persian and Baluchi”.

Produced by Mohammad-Hossein Qasemi, the film could take home the most important awards of the 37th Fajr Film Festival, including the Best Director which went to Abyar. The piece has bagged a total of seven awards at the festival.

Deborah Young attended the 2019 Fajr as the special guest of the film event and picked Navid Mohammadzadeh as her favorite Iranian actor.
